"Old School Britania"

My favourite part of any photo shoot is coming up with a concept, theme and idea’s for the shoot & the overall look- after all its the visual that is captured & sells the product- creating   the overall aesthetics, mood, - along with a slogan, caption or jingle.  As of recent I like writing; I think being able to write concisely is the key. I love styling and photography. I like all kinds of photography but mainly Fashion related.

I have decided that I am going to use my summer project which I have added a series of images  which I titled a "series of six" as they are my favourite shots but I took many more images I will use A Series of Six in Weird&Wonderful.
OldSchoolBritania” - Firstly for the photo shoot I went around a lot of vintage shops in Liverpool with my models, I picked out the outfits they tried them on I then purchased my favourites. In one of the shops the dresses where to expensive for me to purchase, I there for asked could I use there shop as a location for the shoot as it was perfect homely and cozy the manager agreed, I then brought my purchases and also borrowed items of clothing, accessories and any props- It was ideal, we only had two hours to get the shots I needed it was a great experience and I had to think fast and on my feet and also work around any customers, staff in the shop. My second location was in my work place a bridal shop. I am really pleased with the outcome and love the photo’s, they have the vintage,
Retro Glam, feel that I wanted.

Weird & Wonderful

We have been given the brief to create a magazine spread of all or some of our work from this semester. I am really looking forward to it as this will be my second time of making a magazine as we did in first year in photoshop but we are using Indesign this time around.  Weird & Wonderful is a collection of my work throughout my second year as a Fashion Communication student. I have styled, photographed and edited my work. I choose the title ‘Weird & Wonderful’ as I think it describes my work well, I like the use of alliteration and would be intrigued to see what is inside. I enjoy the work that I do I’d like to think it reflects in my work. I love colour but I really like monochrome photographs, Black and White is timeless and looks sophisticated. I think Polaroid’s are fantastic being able to have an instant image there in seconds; I have two cameras a Cannon SLR and a Polaroid camera. The Images are of my hands on this double page spread, which I took in my first year for a self-identity project. ‘Weird & Wonderful’ is prodomently of images and minimal text so you can make of them what you want.

This is an image I took when researching into flora, I am going to use it for my front cover as it fits well with my theme, title 'Weird & Wonderful' as it is unclear what the image is of at first glance, I like the colours, pattern and texture. I used a slow shutter speed to create the soft, blurred effect.

Gokettes:Promoting Gok's Fashion Fix!

Day One:
Wednesday 17th November 2010,

Gok's Press rang Liverpool John Moores University and asked if the students would like to help promote his Fashion Fix and of course I couldn't pass the opportunity! We were filmed handing out the flyers and all LJMU's students had a group photo with Gok- he even spoke to me when I snook in next to him- " ...OOO Hello Gorgeous.." as camp and friendly as ever!
I couldn't stop smiling for the rest of the day!

 Two:
Thursday 18th November 2010,

We were filmed in the Met Quater Shopping Centre Liverpool, going down the escalator, walking into the shop, being part of the live audience for Gok's Fashion Fix, Where Gok alters his outfits styled together from the high street competing against Brix Designer labels. Gok did three looks, Heritage, 70's Glamour and Alpine. I loved 70's Glamour, stunning dresses that draped beautifully, hidden seems styled symmetrically, royal blue and gold perfect combination, accessorized just enough less is definitely more!

I was one of the lucky few who got an up close photo- which wasn't blurred! I will treasure this! =']

 Three:
Friday 19th November 2010

The Fashion Face off on the Catwalk the public and the Gokettes's came out and in the minus freezing temps but there was an electric atmosphere, the girls sat behind me thought that Brig’s outfits were high street and gok's were designer, which I would of agreed if I hadn't seen Gok alter and style his look’s. I burst the girl’s bubble and she was shocked I had an amazing three day's- fab experience Thanks LJMU,  Especially Delphine Wilson.
